What happens when my home service day falls on a holiday?
As a general rule, holidays push our pickup schedules back one day. For example, if a holiday falls on a Monday, Monday's routes will be run on Tuesday, Tuesday's routes on Wednesday, and so forth through Saturday. What time does the trash have to be out at the curb?
All refuse must be placed at the curb by 6:00 a.m. on your collection day. Is my recycling material collected on the same day as the trash?
Not all customers have their recyclables pick up on the same day as their trash but most are. What if we have extra bags?
Please call our office 24 hours in advance to advise us of the extra trash. There will be an extra charge for additional bags of trash.
Republic Services sells refuse stickers for your additional bags of trash, they are sold at various locations throughout Springfield and the immediate area and they cost $1.50 per sticker. You must have 1 sticker per each additional bag of trash and you can place them out on your normal service day. Bags can weigh no more than 50 lbs. What will you not pick up?

- flammable products
- paint cans
- animal carcasses
- tree stumps
- lead, acid/wet cell batteries
- railroad ties
- toxic materials
- bio-hazardous materials or waste
- propane/oxygen/helium tanks
- items containing gas or oil
- live ammunition or weapons
- large amounts of animal waste
- oversized brush, (longer than 4 feet in length or 6 inches in diameter)
- bags weighing more than 50 pounds
…or any items that cannot be safely loaded by our crews for removal or any items that may damage our hauling equipment
When you call our office 24 hours in advance of your pickup day, we will take some bulk items on your normal trash pickup day. For appliances, metal, or heavy items we will service with a different vehicle. Please call our customer service department at (217) 522-7797 for the schedule of these pickup dates. There is a nominal fee for the special pickup based on the type of item.
Do you have a request for an extra or bulky item pickup to be done? Items such as home furnishings, mattresses, box springs, carpet, padding, car parts, appliances, clean-outs and home operated businesses are not included in the weekly service.
Capital Township residents who pay for their own trash service qualify for the bulk item pickup of 3 large items one time per year. Our year runs from November 1-October 31. We will come to your house only once to pick up 3 items or less free of charge. Extra items can be scheduled for pick up for an additional charge.

. How many toters (carts) are we allowed to have?
Each resident receives one toter and a recycling bin for no additional charge with the service. If you would like an additional toter we will provide it for a nominal fee per month.
