The Chino Hills Recycles program was designed with you in mind, and requires very little extra effort. Each single-family residence receives three 96-gallon containers: a
green container for trash, a
black container for yard waste and a
gray container for recyclable items.
These specially designed containers are lightweight with built-in wheels for easy movement. The automated refuse system uses modern, robotic trucks to empty containers. For your convenience, all containers are collected the same day each week.
After Republic collects your recyclable materials, yard waste and household garbage, it is delivered to
Republic Services Regional Recycling Complex for processing.
- Recyclable materials collected from the gray container are sorted with state-of-the-art technology prior to being delivered to recycling facilities where they become raw materials for new products. Green waste from the black container is screened and processed prior to being used as alternate daily cover and/or compost.
- Household garbage placed in the green container is cost-effectively consolidated into larger vehicles and transported to the landfill for disposal. Please keep in mind, household garbage is not sorted; therefore, any recyclable materials placed inside the black container ends up in the landfill.
To make Chino Hills Recycles a success, please follow these simple sorting guidelines and adopt these disposal practices. Your participation and support of Chino Hills Recycles is a big step toward solving our waste problems.

What type of containers must be used? Participating households receive three specially designed containers: one GREEN container for trash, one GRAY container for recyclables, and one BLACK container for yard waste. The containers are designed for automated service and feature built-in wheels, handles and permanently attached lids. The automated collection system will only pick up waste placed in the special containers.
Will the containers hold all of my trash and recyclable items? Each container is designed to hold up to 96-gallons, which is the approximate equivalent of three normal size garbage cans. Additional containers can be ordered if needed. A nominal fee will be charged for additional trash and yard waste containers. Additional recycling containers are provided at no additional charge.
What if the containers are too large? If the 96-gallon containers are too large, you may request to exchange them for 64-gallon containers.
Where can I park my car on collection day? Collection cannot be made safely, if a vehicle is too close or blocks access to the containers. If your car is parked in the driveway or on the street, it must not be closer than three feet from the automated containers.
What if one of my containers is damaged? Damaged containers will be repaired or replaced at no charge, unless the damage is due to negligence or abuse.
What if I am moving? If you move, please leave your barrels for the next resident. Barrels are for your use, but they remain the property of Republic Services.
Where do I call if I need assistance with the program? Republic Services’ customer service representatives are ready to assist you with any questions regarding the automated waste collection and recycling services. Call toll-free 866-238-2444 to speak to a live representative.
What if I see people scavenging through my trash containers? To report savaging, please contact your local code enforcement.
What do I do with construction and demolition waste? Republic offers a variety of special services ranging from temporary three-yard bins to storage boxes and roll-off containers. These containers meet a variety of household cleaning and construction needs.
Can I dump trash at your disposal facility in Colton? Yes, our disposal facility, CVT Public Disposal, is open to the public Monday - Saturday 5:30 AM - 6 PM (Closed Sunday and Major Holidays). We are conveniently located at 2740 N. Coronado Street in Anaheim. For more information call 714-238-3301.
What else can I do to help? You can develop new habits to reduce waste; including buying products with less packaging and made from recycled materials. Whenever possible, reuse items by donating them to local charities or selling them in a garage sale, rather than throwing them in the garbage.
